don't download this song
Okay, it's time I came clean. Those of you that don't know me....I'm a Weird Al fan.
Not a "oh, I loved 'Eat It' back in the day" fan. I'm talking 'buy each new album the day it comes out' fan. Ever since I saw the video for "Ricky" and then my brother bought the self-titled album, which I constantly stole & played endlessly, I've been hooked.
And my mom wonders why I'm still single. Well, might as well keep digging deeper. I freely admit his parodies haven't been as funny these days, but pop music kinda sucks. Amazingly, though, his original songs keep getting better. I never listen to the parodies anymore. Go to his Myspace page and listen to "Hardware Store". From a production standpoint, it's an amazing song.
Anyway, he just released a new track, his first original to be released as a single in about 20 years, called "Don't Download This Song", which you can download right here. It's off his upcoming album Straight Outta Lynwood.

Oh yes, I'll be at Amoeba on September 26th.

The license plate on the new album cover appears to be an homage to Abbey Road's "28 If" plate. Whaddya think?

Hey there Russ - Thanks for the link to the Weird Al stuff. I just heard "Don't Download This Song" on his myspace page, and I love it! Was it you who did the rap on Odyssey, by the way (about the apes finally beating up the bullies)? That kicked ass. I listen to the album a lot.
